Rachel Eve Holmes is an American soprano recently described as “expressive and subtle, with a stunning instrument” (Capital Times). A Georgia native, Holmes’ performing career has taken her to Belgium, China, Italy, Austria, Canada, and the Czech Republic, as well as all over the United States.

EUROPEAN

Opera Premiere
Rachel Eve Holmes performed as Beth March in the European premiere of Mark Adamo's Little Women in Bruges, Belgium. The cast worked alongside Adamo to bring this beloved American opera to the international stage in 2009.

NEW MUSIC

Role Creation
In 2015, composer Garrett Hope penned The Passion of Jehanne, a one-woman monodrama created for Rachel Eve Holmes' voice. This work is based on the life of Joan of Arc and was composed for soprano, piano, and string quartet.

REACHING THE

Next Generation
Alongside Opera for the Young, Ms. Holmes performed the role of Rosina (The Barber of Seville) 99 times for elementary students across the Midwest, introducing thousands of children to opera for the first time.

REVIVING RARE

Verdian Treasures
Under the baton of conductor Mark Cedel, Ms. Holmes performed Verdi's stunning 1845 song cycle Sei Romanze in 2017. These works are rarely performed in their entirety in recital, and are even less frequently performed with orchestra.
